MOUS’TEAM : a citizen science project towards a better understanding of the Asian tiger mosquito

A citizen science operation on the Asian tiger mosquito

MOUS’TEAM, a citizen science operation

Within the RESEDAPP project that aims to improve public response to vector-borne diseases (IVPC Bunya team, coordinator: Vincent RAQUIN) was launched MOUS’TEAM, a citizen science operation in partnership with Métropole de Lyon,INRAE,  EIRAD, ARS Rhône-Alpes and Agence Phare.

The objective is to initiate an exchange between researchers, public stakeholders, and citizens about the current stakes related to mosquitoes, especially the Asian tiger mosquito. MOUS’TEAM will allow a better understanding of mosquito biology, an improvement of vector control measures but also data acquisition on the repartition and density of the Asian tiger mosquito notably in the urban center of Lyon city thanks to 3 weeks of mosquito trapping by participants at home in September. An anthropological survey will be performed in parallel to evaluate citizen engagement, risk perception, and knowledge improvement by citizens. Results will be published within the first trimester of 2024.
