Marie Verneret, a new PhD student in the PR2T team

Marie Verneret joined the PR2T for her PhD on endogenous and exogenous retrovirome in small ruminants

After a professional bachelor’s degree in genomics, Marie Verneret specialized in bioinformatics obtaining a molecular bioinformatics master’s degree at Lyon 1 University. She achieved her master’s internship in the PR2T team in collaboration with the PRABI platform on endogenous β retrovirus diversity and expression profile in sheep.

Marie started her PhD in October 2022, as part of the REVE@FARM project (ANR financing), under the supervision of  Dr Jocelyn Turpin from the PR2T team and Dr Emmanuelle Lerat from the LBBE Bioinformatics, Phylogeny and Evolutionnary Genomics team. Her project focuses on the characterization of endogenous and exogenous retrovirome in small ruminants and on their impact on the host genome and cancer development

Marie is part of the E2M2 graduate school.
